6 Ways You Can Clean Baseboards Without Bending Over

Cleaning baseboards may not be especially hard. There are plenty of hacks out there to make it even easier, and you don’t have to clean them too often.

However, baseboard cleaning can become increasingly difficult if you have back or knee problems. Do you struggle when tackling this chore? Here are six ways to clean your baseboards without bending over or kneeling!

Method #1: Brooms and brushes

If your baseboards aren’t that dirty, you could easily clean them with a broom. The best part about this method is that you won’t need to purchase anything—everybody already owns a broom!

However, brooms have a downside: they might not be up to the task if you need more detailed cleaning. In that case, you could look into getting brushes; some even have the same length as a broom, and they work perfectly on the baseboard’s crevices!

Method #2: Floor mop

Much like the broom, a floor mop is an easy tool for cleaning your baseboards! This floor mop method can be as simple as grabbing a bucket of soapy water and using your mop directly on the baseboards.

Also, if you’re willing to try something a little different, you could use a solution made with vinegar. To make this cleaning solution, pour half a cup of white vinegar into warm water, then add a splash of dish soap. This liquid will help you battle the harder-to-clean stains!

Method #3: Flexible dust mop

Sometimes having the right tool makes all the difference! As a variation of cleaning baseboards with a mop, you can get a flexible dust mop instead.

Flexible dust mops have strings made of dust-trapping materials, like microfiber or chenille fabric. Plus, these strings will make it easier to clean the top of the baseboards as well as the front.

Method #4: Flexible dust wand

Some sections of your baseboards are in hard-to-reach places (behind your furniture or at the corners of the rooms). In these cases, your standard cleaning tools might not fit adequately to get the job done.

Don’t worry! A flexible dust wand will do the trick. The most helpful thing about this tool is that you can bend it whichever way you need. So, all those out-of-reach places? Not so inaccessible now!

Method #5: Vacuum cleaner

Everyone knows that a vacuum cleaner is one of the most effective ways to get rid of dust. Also, there are all sorts of attachments for vacuum cleaners, and we’re using that to our advantage! For example, the brush attachment will do the work of sweeping and sucking up the dust on your baseboards.

Also, most attachments for vacuum cleaners have a long reach, so there won’t be any bending over for this!

Method #6: Make your own cleaning tool

Purchasing the right tools to help with your cleaning may not be something you can do right now. Don’t worry; you can make a cleaning tool!

You’ll only need a broom, some rubber bands, and a microfiber cloth to make your tool. Now, follow these simple steps:

  • Step 1: Put the microfiber cloth over the broom bristles, and make sure both sides are covered equally.
  • Step 2: Attach the cloth with the rubber bands; you can use as many as you need (three are generally enough). Just check that it’s properly attached!
  • Step 3: Your cleaning tool is ready, so spray some soapy water and run the broom from side to side on the baseboards.

Too much work? Let us handle this chore!

There are many tricks and methods to clean your baseboards without bending over, but they still require a lot of time and effort. However, a cleaning service can be your best option!

The Steps To Help Protect Your Family Against Covid-19

Covid-19 Policies and Procedures to protect your family and our staff. Cleaning your home is one of the most important steps you can take to prevent the spread of infectious diseases like the new Covid-19 or the FLU. We aim to provide excellent service, especially in times such as these when viruses can be overwhelming. WHO (World Health Organization) and the CDC (Center for Disease Control) have provided basic protective measures, and we will be following those guidelines. All of our Cleaners have been educated on protective procedures. Here is a link to the CDC “Steps to prevent illness”

What Rochester Residential and Commercial Cleaning is doing to keep our Clients and Staff safe:

  • Increasing our cleaning protocols. Our employees will be wearing disposable gloves in your home while cleaning. They will be disinfecting all high-touch surfaces such as light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, toilets, faucets and sinks with our disinfectant cleaner.
  • Disinfecting equipment before entering a Client’s home and after leaving a client’s home. Increasing the usage of hand sanitizer by staff.
  • Creating a distributed workforce. We are now working as Solo cleaners. Along with its other benefits, this method reduces the likelihood of social spread among team members.
  • Our staff will not be coming to your home if they are experiencing any symptoms of illness. We know it is our duty to help slow the transmission of Covid-19 and to be extra diligent in assessing our own health.
  • The CDC recommends 6ft distance from anyone sick. We have asked the cleaners to stay 6ft from all people while cleaning. No hugs or handshakes.
  • To protect our employees and clients, we will not clean homes if anyone in the home is sick or showing flu-like symptoms.
  • We are asking all our clients to please call to cancel their appointment if they are sick.

Cleaning Inspiration: 3 Ways To Motivate Yourself to Clean

Nobody likes to kneel on the bathroom floor to scrub behind a dirty toilet.

Cleaning can be a drag, and this is why we at Rochester, are focused on helping you out in whatever way we can.

For all of you who think cleaning is tough, or for those who barely have the time to clean, here are three simple tricks that can inspire you to get on with your cleaning.

Get some inspiration

Before you put on those awkward rubber gloves, you’ll need to hype yourself up, especially if you’re not in the mood to wipe and scrub. Just like a professional athlete who’s about to enter the arena and be greeted by roaring fans, you’ll need energy to do a well-done job.

You can get some inspiration by watching online videos (we recommend watching videos about cleaning), listening to podcasts, or reading a blog… just like this one!

Stick to a schedule

It’s you who should know how often your house should be cleaned. So, for every part of your home, you’ll need a different schedule. For example, when was the last time you scrubbed the garage floor? How often do you need the toilets cleaned? They need cleaning at different times and you’ll need to have a working schedule for this.

We advise you to mark your cleaning schedule in your calendar and make sure to stick to it because it’s definitely worth your time. For extra efficiency, incorporate some expert tips into your cleaning, especially when cleaning more difficult areas such as the kitchen. Once you get used to a routine, you’ll be cleaning more regularly and do a better job at it for sure.

Give yourself a treat

Sometimes the best way to push yourself is to reward yourself after doing the dirty work.

Because cleaning can be a tough job, a punishment some might say, rewarding yourself in the end can help you pull through the laborious work. It might even get you excited everytime you clean! One way to treat yourself is by buying new stuff for cleaning. Get yourself some new brushes, a good pair of gloves, buckets, cleaning bowls, and cleaning solutions.

At Rochester Residential & Commercial Cleaning, our passion is to ensure the protection of your family as well as our staff. Don’t hesitate to call us if you need more tips or guidelines about sanitizing and disinfecting. Meanwhile, happy cleaning!
